RECRUITMENT AND REQUIREMENTS

What is Recruitment?

Recruitment starts with an event called Meet the IFC Fraternities. The event is a chance for anyone who is interested in joining a Fraternity to meet representatives from every chapter and to gain information about Pitt Fraternity Life. Meet the IFC Fraternities is followed by two weeks of individual chapter events. These events give chapters and potential new members a chance to learn about each other. The recruitment process is completely free and at no point in time will you ever be required to spend money. All events are open to all Pitt students unless listed as invite only. Additionally, most events offer free food to those who come. There are 19 IFC Fraternities at Pitt and each one of them is unique. Even if you are on the fence about joining a Fraternity, we encourage you to still come out for recruitment to meet people and to get some free food. We guarantee that there is a Fraternity at Pitt for you. If you look for it, you will find a group of guys that you will be proud to call brothers.

What is a Bid?

At the end of recruitment, chapters will decide if they want to offer you a bid, which is an official invitation to join a Fraternity. IFC hosts an official Bid Day at the end of recruitment. Bid Day is an opportunity to sign your bid in person and be formally accepted into a Fraternity.

What are the Requirements for Accepting a Bid?

To be eligible to accept a bid you must meet the following 4 requirements:

1. Attend an FSL 101 information seminar before you accept a bid

  •  You must attend FSL 101 before Bid Day
  •  You must only attend FSL 101 once. After attending, you are eligible to accept a bid at any point in the remainder of your college career. To clarify, if you attend FSL 101 during your 1st semester and receive a bid in your 8th semester, you do not have to attend FSL 101 a second time before accepting your bid
  • **Due to COVID-19, All FSL 101 sessions are being held online. The link to sign up for a session can be found in the schedule hyperlink below***

4. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA with the following exceptions:
